Rep. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) has a weekend job that could interfere with the intense campaigning required for his Senate run — but it might also help him get elected.
Kirk, an intelligence officer who has been deployed to Panama, is a commander in the Naval Reserves, a gig that requires he spend a weekend on duty and two weeks a year in the service — and he Tweeted about it this weekend:
[Sunday] Mark Kirk: On duty @ the Pentagon’s National Military Command Center. All is currently (relatively) quiet. Honor 2 be back w/ my fellow Navy colleagues
[Saturday] Mark Kirk: Back on duty in the National Military Command Center – lets hope for a calm day for our troops
