Former New Hampshire Rep. Paul Hodes, who lost a 2010 Senate bid, will be nominated to a seat on the National Council of the Arts, the White House announced Friday.

Hodes was one of President Barack Obama’s earliest and most enthusiastic supporters during the contentious 2008 Democratic presidential primary, appearing with the then-Illinois senator at campaign events.

"Throughout his life, Mr. Hodes has been both a performer and active member of the arts and entertainment communities," a White House statement said. "While practicing trial and entertainment law, he and his wife Peggo won two Parent’s Choice awards with their band ‘Peggosus.”
