President Donald Trump has postponed a planned Las Vegas fundraiser following this month’s mass shooting on the Strip, according to three people familiar with the planning for the event.
The Oct. 21 event was intended to benefit Trump’s reelection campaign and the Republican National Committee. The president was expected to attend as a special guest.
Organizers have yet to determine a new date. Las Vegas casino mogul Steve Wynn, Trump’s handpicked RNC finance chairman, had been helping to put the event together.
It is not the first time Trump’s fundraising schedule has been upended by unforeseen circumstances. Last month, the president canceled a series of Texas fundraisers after Hurricane Harvey devastated the state.
Trump has embarked on a busy fall fundraising tour. On Saturday evening, the president flew to North Carolina, where he appeared at the home of donor Louis DeJoy for an event that raised around $2 million.
The is expected to hold events in New York City in November and December.
