The Republicans' Magic Calendar.

Stung by Donald Trump’s self-evident truth that history did not begin on September 12, 2001 and end at noon on January 20, 2009, Jeb Bush asked, “Does anybody actually blame my brother for 9/11?” As it turns out, this is hardly the first time the former Florida governor complained about the unkindness the calendar has shown his brother. In August 2012, Jeb declared it was “unbecoming” for Barack Obama to continue to “blame others” for the economic calamity he inherited from George W., and went so far as to suggest the president should be “spanked” for pointing the finger at his brother. And in April 2009—just weeks after Obama entered the Oval Office in the midst of the greatest American economic calamity since the Great Depression—Jeb protested:

“If I had one humble criticism of President Obama, it would be to stop this notion of somehow framing

Stephen Colbert’s short and sweet takedown of Fox’s Eric Bolling

Last night, Stephen Colbert had a short but still great segment mocking Fox News’s Eric Bolling for making up shit in relation to Benghazi just in order to try and smear Obama, before he was caught by his own Fox News colleague.

5/5/2014:
ERIC BOLLING: There’s one more piece to this. Don’t forget that this was prior — prior — to Osama bin Laden being taken down, and the thought was, and the discussion was, is President Obama going into the re-election soft on terror or not? A lot of people were saying….  It was after?

DANA PERINO: Yeah, yeah, yeah. A year.

ERIC BOLLING: My bad, I take it back.

DANA PERINO: But a great point if it were true.

(hysterical audience laughter and applause)
Yes. That’s undeniable. Yes, a great point and a fantastic new motto: Fox News, Fair & Balanced. A Great Point If It Were True.

Video and full transcript below the fold.

Fox News chief scientist Dana Perino to TV meteorologists: Focus on Benghazi, not climate change

Presenting the essence of right-wing media, perfectly distilled:

“Tomorrow, President Obama is going to do interviews with meteorologists all across the country about a new climate change report,” [Fox News host Dana Perino] said. “I hope they ask him about Benghazi.”

Aside from highlighting the fact that conservatives think that there’s more truth in Benghazi conspiracy theories than there is in the science of climate change, it’s sort of fitting that a former White House Press Secretary who didn’t know what the Cuban Missile Crisis was would urge TV weathermen to ask President Obama about a Benghazi, which a shockingly large number of conservatives believe is a town in Cuba.

Fox News commentator grumbles about liberal media bubble

Bill O'Reily 'Talking Points Commentary': 'The Far Left Running Wild: There are entire media operations that exist today solely to promote ideology. This is a bad situation that is getting worse.'

And here’s Bubble Buddy Bill, just because this is a wonderful picture.

Here’s former George W. Bush administration press secretary and current Fox News commentator Dana Perino, on Fox News Sunday, moaning that the mean Democrats these days live in a media bubble.

Democrats and the liberals live in the biggest mainstream media bubble ever created in the history of the universe. And so, if you look at Republicans across many of the states governors, or state legislators, Republicans are actually doing what a really good work, they just nationally they’re taking a hit on their reputation.

I can’t top that, so I’ll just leave it there.

Dana Perino says President Obama should just shut up about Trayvon

George W. Bush Press Secretary Dana Perino

Former White House Press Secretary (and national co-chair of the Not-Exactly Mensa Society) Dana Perino is outraged that President Obama dared talk about the killing of Trayvon Martin:

“Also when a president speaks, it’s to multiple audiences,” she added. “If you think of the young mother whose 2-year-old son was shot in the face by the two black teens that approached her in Atlanta and that baby had died, why do presidents choose to speak about one case and not the other? That’s why it’s better maybe not to talk about any of them.”

That’s pretty much the most clueless non-sequitor you could imagine and David Edwards supplies the best translation:

Dana Perino: Where’s Obama speech on blacks shooting white babies in the face?

Of course, as Edwards notes, in that case the alleged killers were arrested and charged almost immediately. Moreover, only a moron like Dana Perino could listen to what President Obama said about Trayvon Martin’s killing and its aftermath as some sort of excuse for the crime cited by Perino.

The one piece of good news is that not all Republican operatives have responded as idiotically as Perino. John McCain, for example, said he agrees with President Obama that we need to review Stand Your Ground laws. And given that the big difference between John McCain and Barack Obama is that McCain isn’t president, maybe Perino won’t tell him to shut up.

George W. Bush’s magic calendar returns

In the run-up to Thursday’s celebration at the George W. Bush Presidential Library, America’s 43rd president declared that “history will ultimately judge” his tenure in the White House. And that is precisely the problem for the custodians of Bush’s legacy. After all, the slaughter of 3,000 people on 9/11, the catastrophic and unnecessary war in Iraq, illicit domestic surveillance and illegal detainee torture, the worst eight-year economic performance since Herbert Hoover, a near-doubling of the national debt (thanks in large part to tax cuts that will continue to drain the U.S. Treasury for years to come), the implosion of Wall Street and the disastrously bungled response to Hurricane Katrina all occurred on George W. Bush’s watch.

Unless, that is, you don’t just rewrite history but redefine time itself. According to the Republicans’ Magic Calendar, George W. Bush somehow “kept us safe” despite the carnage on Sept. 11, 2001. Miraculously, it was President Bush who killed Osama Bin Laden, despite his opposition to the very kind of raid ordered by Barack Obama two years after Dubya left office. As for W’s dismal economic record, his fabulists complain, Bush is wrongly getting a bad rap for recessions which should instead be blamed on Democrats Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.

As you’ll see below, creating the magical Bush timeline has been a team effort.

Fox ‘News’ bobbleheads agree: Algebra is socialism, and cowboys loved Indians

Girl doing math on chalkboard

Look at the lovely rich girl doing socialism!

Brace yourselves for the stupid:

Fox News host Eric Bolling on Wednesday accused some schools of “pushing the liberal agenda” for teaching an algebra lesson about the distributive property.

During a segment about “indoctrination in schools,” Bolling reminded viewers of a 2009 video of children chanting, “Mmm. Mmm. Mmm. Barack Hussein Obama,” which outraged conservatives at the time.

“But even worse is the way some textbooks are pushing the liberal agenda,” the Fox News host explained, pointing to an algebra worksheet that Scholastic says gives students “[i]nsight into the distributive property as it applies to multiplication.”

“Distribute the wealth!” Bolling exclaimed, reading the worksheet. “Distribute the wealth with the lovely rich girl with a big ole bag of money, handing some money out.”

Naturally, Dana Perino, former mouthpiece for George Dubya, chimed in with her extensive and utterly relevant knowledge of … stuff:

Co-host Dana Perino also expressed concern over an effort to stop children from role playing “cowboys and Indians” at Thanksgiving because experts say that “the historic enemy of Indians was not cowboys, but the U.S. government.”

Yes, that would be Dana “I think the Cuban missile crisis had something to do with Cuba and missiles” Perino, who believes there’s no reason to know about things that happened in history before she was born, but all of a sudden, she’s an expert on, you know, things that happened before she was born, at least when it comes to standing up for our children’s right to be completely ignorant about history. And also, apparently, math.

Yeah, just another day at good ol’ Fox watching actually makes you dumber News.

Dana Perino says Obama rally with Jay-Z and The Boss was like watching a male enhancement ad.

Yes, this fount of wisdom was once press secretary for the president of the United States of America:

And not only does Perino (inexplicably) think that watching an Obama rally with Jay-Z and The Boss is like watching a Cialis or Viagra commercial, she also thinks it reflected the Democratic War on Women because Jay-Z reworked the lyrics from “99 Problems” to the following: “I’ve got 99 problems, but Mitt ain’t one.”

Please, voters, do not ever again let these idiots get their greedy little hands on the levers of power.
